A desktop AI product should be useful without becoming invasive

AuraClaw is designed around a local-first workflow. This policy explains what may stay on your device, what limited information we may collect, and how we handle account, subscription, and service data when cloud-connected features are used.

Core principle

AuraClaw is built to keep the desktop experience lightweight and transparent. When a feature sends data to a cloud provider, that transfer should be tied to a clear user action or a clearly enabled sync feature.

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy applies to AuraClaw's website, desktop applications, waitlist or sign-in flows, subscription checkout, and related support interactions. It is written for a desktop AI product that may combine local processing, optional memory, and cloud-connected services.

Our approach is simple: we try to minimize collection, avoid unnecessary tracking, and make it easier for users to understand when data stays local versus when data is sent to third-party providers. If a specific product feature has additional privacy behavior, that feature-level notice controls alongside this policy.

  • Desktop context, memory, and task history may remain on your device when the feature is designed to work locally.
  • Account, subscription, crash, and service telemetry may be processed by AuraClaw or its providers to keep the product running reliably.
  • If you intentionally use cloud models, synchronization, or third-party integrations, the relevant prompt, task payload, or metadata may be sent to those providers.

2. What We Collect

Information that may stay on your device

Depending on the feature, AuraClaw may store conversations, reminders, preferences, working memory, local task states, and other productivity context on the device where you use the app. Local file contents, clipboard content, selected text, or app context are only processed when you explicitly trigger a feature that needs them.

Information we may collect directly

  • Account information such as your name, email address, profile image, and provider account identifier when sign-in is enabled.
  • Subscription and transaction metadata, including plan name, renewal status, invoices, and billing country, usually through a third-party payment processor.
  • Device and product diagnostics such as app version, operating system, crash reports, latency metrics, and coarse usage events.
  • Support and feedback messages you send to us, including any attachments or screenshots you choose to provide.

Information from third parties

We may receive limited data from sign-in providers, payment partners, analytics tools, or fraud-prevention services. When you choose to connect an external model provider, workspace tool, or cloud service, their terms and privacy practices also apply to the data you send through that integration.

3. How We Use Data

We use personal information only where it supports a real product or business need, including to:

  • create and secure your account, if accounts are enabled;
  • provide subscriptions, billing support, and entitlement checks;
  • run the product, fix bugs, prevent abuse, and improve reliability;
  • power optional sync, model routing, reminders, and cross-device experiences that require server-side support;
  • respond to support requests and product feedback;
  • send transactional notices such as security alerts, renewal updates, and major product changes.

If you are located in the EEA, UK, or similar jurisdictions, our legal bases may include performance of a contract, legitimate interests, your consent, and compliance with legal obligations, depending on the specific processing activity.

4. Sharing and Service Providers

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information with trusted providers when doing so is necessary to operate AuraClaw, including:

  • authentication providers for sign-in and account security;
  • payment processors and tax partners for subscriptions;
  • hosting, database, storage, and observability vendors;
  • AI model and API providers when you choose a cloud-connected feature or model that requires remote processing;
  • professional advisers, legal authorities, or acquirers if required.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the rights or safety of users and the public, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or asset sale. If we support international access, data may be processed in countries other than your own, subject to reasonable contractual and technical safeguards.

5. Retention and Your Choices

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including product functionality, troubleshooting, security, accounting, and legal compliance. Retention periods vary depending on the data type:

  • account data is typically kept while your account remains active and for a reasonable period after closure;
  • billing and tax records may be retained for the time required by accounting or regulatory obligations;
  • diagnostics and support logs may be retained for a shorter operational period and then deleted or de-identified;
  • local memory and task history may remain under your device-level control unless you delete them or use sync features.

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis. You may also be able to manage memory, reminders, startup behavior, and notification settings directly inside the product.

6. Security, Children, Changes, and Contact

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No system is perfectly secure, so users should also protect their device, operating system, credentials, and backups, especially when using software that can access local desktop context.

AuraClaw is not directed to children under 13, and in some regions under 16, without appropriate consent from a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When the changes are material, we will revise the effective date above and may provide additional notice inside the product or on the site.

Questions, requests, or privacy concerns can be sent to [email protected]. You can also return to the FAQ or the Download page if you need product context before contacting support.
